Experimental Research on the Surface Quality of Milling Contour Bevel Gears

Abstract Contour bevel gears have the advantages of high coincidence, low noise and large bearing capacity, which are widely used in automobile manufacturing, shipbuilding construction machinery. However, when surface quality is poor, effective contact area between gear mating surfaces decreases, affecting stability fit thus transmission accuracy, so it great significance to optimize contour gear. This paper firstly analyzes formation process machined roughness on basis generating machining method, dry milling experiments conducted analyze effects cutting speed feed rate topography workpiece. Then, defects workpiece studied by SEM, causes analyzed EDS. After that, XRD compare microscopic grains substrate material for diffraction peak analysis, effect parameters microhardness investigated work hardening experiment. The research results improving accuracy gears, reducing friction losses efficiency.
